Altering My Topic

My topic has been how humans effected the environment (creating the ozone hole) and how these actions are now having detrimental effects on humans (skin cancer). I still want to portray this idea, but I want to add another dimension to it that creates conversation around digital photograph manipulation. I want to parallel the ozone hole and skin cancer situation with how humans started digitally manipulating photographs to make the human form more 'beautiful' and how this now negatively affects young women psychologically (body image, eating disorders, self esteem etc).

N.B. When you send your file to the matte printer, make sure to put 'colour' in your file title so that the guys who print it off for you know to change the printer over to colour (as greyscale is its default).

Choose either choose the Epson 7900 Luster printer or the Epson 4000 Matte printer (with this one there is a colour or greyscale version)

Look at the different 'Rendering Intent' options with 'Preview' and 'Simulate Paper Colour' ticked and choose the best option for what you want your image to look like printed.

When printing choose the paper size most relevant for your image size (so there is little to no wastage).
The matte paper printer prints at 17 inches wide and the luster paper printer prints at 16 inches wide.

Make sure the 'Printer Profile' matches the printer you want to print from and the one you looked at in 'Proof Setup'.

Adding crop marks can make cropping you image easier - especially if you have a white border around you image.

You can print onto plain A3 or A4 paper using normal uni printers to test the resolution of your image without wasting money.

Creative Commons Images

I retrieved some images of cracked grounds off of creative commons websites. 

The weather is not hot enough for the ground to do this at the moment in order for me to take my own photos.

Sunprinted Style

I edited these photographs to try and make them look like they had been sunprinted. I can't do any actual sunprinting because nobody in Wellington sells the special paper you need in order to do it.
